Coach Brenton Sorensen
Judo Instructor – Rolling Oak Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Brenton Sorensen has been practicing Judo for over 19 years, earning his black belt in 2018. In his early years, he actively competed, gaining valuable experience and sharpening his technical skills on the mat. Over time, his focus evolved toward teaching, and he embraced the role of Sensei, sharing his deep knowledge and passion for Judo with others.

In 2019, Brenton began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to further challenge himself and enhance his overall martial arts game. As his training progressed, he recognized a growing interest among students in learning Judo techniques to improve their stand-up and takedown skills. With the support of the Rolling Oak coaching team, Brenton introduced a dedicated Judo program designed to complement Jiu-Jitsu training—blending the precision of Judo with the flow of Jiu-Jitsu to create a well-rounded grappling experience for students.

Coach Brenton's classes focus on traditional Judo techniques, emphasizing throws, grips, balance, and timing, while fostering respect and discipline in a structured training environment.

Brenton also leads the Seedlings and Saplings youth programs every Saturday morning—hybrid classes that are approximately 80% Judo and 20% Jiu-Jitsu. These sessions introduce young students to the fundamentals of both arts, helping them develop coordination, confidence, and focus while promoting a positive, team-oriented mindset both on and off the mats.

Class Schedule:
Monday – 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM (Adult Judo)
Friday – 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM (Adult Judo)
Saturday – 9:00 AM (Seedlings Judo)
Saturday – 9:45 AM (Saplings Judo)
